Is Hebrew Hard to Learn?
Definitely not as hard as you think, thanks to the Hebrew-in-Hebrew method. Firstly, you have only 22 letters to learn. Beginner Courses
Once you have made the decision to take a course, all you need is commitment to achieve the best results. Level one and two are the beginner courses.
Level One
This course aims to provide you with a solid base on which you can build your Hebrew. Level Two
Now that you have learned the basics, this course helps you to communicate in any situation that you find yourself. For example, while going to get groceries, at the bank, at the dentist’s, at church, etc. This helps to build your confidence while interacting with people.
At this point, you learn adverbs, adjectives, more verbs and pronouns. In order to easily understand and relate with the language, you will discuss daily common situations and other texts. You would learn an additional 350 new words.
The course duration and span is just like that of level one. Choose any two 2 hours every week for 9 months. The course is worth two credits, and you would be more fluent by this time.
Intermediate Course
Level Three
If you are taking this course, then congratulations! Because you are no longer a beginner. This course aims to improve your fluency in interpersonal discussions, irrespective of the situation that you find yourself.
Additionally, you would learn 250 new words, which should expand the number of words in your vocabulary to a thousand! You would also learn direct and indirect speeches, phrases of cause and effect, conditionals, and past tense. All these help to strengthen the syntax in your grammar, and ensure a smooth progress to the advanced level.
By now, you would be able to read texts on important cultural matters in Israel. As you give your feedbacks on the texts, your fluency increases. Within the syllabus, you would learn how to combine what you learned from the first two courses, watch the “Who wants to be a millionaire” TV show, among other interesting activities. The course schedule is 2 hours weekly, for 9 months.
Advanced and Expert Courses
Do not be scared of the word “advanced” here. It only gets easier as you get the full grasp of the Language. Levels four to eight are the advanced courses.
Level Four
The Israeli culture has many remarkable elements, and it is essential that you are exposed to them in this course. Therefore, by knowing about historic places, literature, important statistics, and communities, you learn a lot.
This course covers verbs in their future tenses, 300 new words, and an expanded knowledge of syntax through complex sentences, conditionals, adjectives, and prepositions. Here, your speaking ability would improve greatly. Kibbutz, Bialik’s poems, Eliezer Ben-Yehuda are some important highlights in the syllabus.
The course schedule is the same as for the above courses.
Level Five
This course takes you a step closer to perfection. You will learn how to communicate effectively even in complex situations. After we listen to different recordings, you would try to express yourself in both speaking and writing by comparing your personal experiences to such situations.
Three hundred additional words, verb usage in all tenses, time expressions, and different applications of nouns are all in available in this course. Level Six
